About a third of Americans express high trust in AI search results, while roughly a quarter express low trust, according to a Statista Consumer Insights chart published January 23, 2026. Close to 40 percent of respondents fall in the middle of the 1 to 10 trust scale.

The chart is based on a survey of 2,000 U.S. respondents aged 18 to 64, conducted from June to December 2025. Respondents rated their trust in AI search results on three topics: finances, health and wellbeing, and news. Scores of 8 to 10 count as high trust, and scores of 1 to 3 as low trust.

Health and wellbeing drew the strongest high-trust share, at 35 percent, with 19 percent giving low scores. For finance, about 29 percent expressed high trust. News coverage showed the weakest confidence, with 27 percent reporting little trust. The chart shows that the single largest bar for finance and news sits at a score of 1, meaning zero trust, at roughly 15 and 16 percent respectively, while for health and wellbeing the largest bar sits at a score of 10, full trust, at about 14 percent.

Statista's figures indicate that trust varies by subject area and that opinion is split between both ends of the scale. Respondents who did not answer are counted as don't know, so the percentages on each topic do not sum to 100.
