Executives from JAS Worldwide told an Italy America Chamber breakfast audience in Atlanta that artificial intelligence is reshaping the fragmented logistics industry and that the change is producing more opportunity than disruption for the firm. Chief Commercial Officer Manuele Mazzacurati welcomed the group and said the company aims to use the technology to make existing employees more effective rather than to reduce headcount.
JAS started in Milan in 1978 as a family owned freight forwarder and moved its global headquarters to Atlanta in 2006. The company now reports roughly $4 billion in revenue and has completed 10 acquisitions, with executives saying they continue to look at additional strategic deals. Its operations cover air and ocean transport, import and export processing, door to door delivery, and intercontinental logistics.
The executives framed AI as a tool for gaining visibility across three flows that make freight movement possible: the physical flow of planes, trains, and ships, the information flow of documentation and data, and the decision flow that determines routing and mode. Moving goods across borders has always required detailed paperwork that changes at each leg of a shipment and at each government compliance checkpoint.
Mazzacurati was appointed chief commercial officer effective January 1, 2026. His stated guiding principle for the rollout is that people make the difference, a framing he used to distinguish the firm's approach from automation programs built primarily around labor reduction. The Atlanta headquarters places the company inside Fulton County, part of a metro region that Georgia officials describe as one of the country's largest logistics and distribution hubs.
