Adoption of AI-powered marketing automation reached near-universal levels among large US companies in 2026, according to marketing technology research. Roughly 95 percent of enterprise marketing teams and 78 percent of mid-market B2B organizations now run at least one marketing automation platform, while B2C adoption has climbed to about 65 percent, helped by Klaviyo and Braze use in ecommerce and consumer mobile.
The reported returns are substantial where programs are measured. Marketing automation ROI averages $5.44 per dollar spent, and top-quartile programs push past $8.70. For AI-specific investments, organizations project average returns around 171 percent, with US enterprises estimating roughly 192 percent.
A measurement gap tempers the picture. While about 78 percent of organizations use AI somewhere, fewer than 20 percent track ROI from it, which helps explain why many report adoption without a clear performance gain. Analysts note that the distance between leading and lagging programs is now explained largely by CRM integration depth, lead scoring maturity, and how quickly teams put agentic AI to work inside existing workflows.
The overall AI marketing market was valued at $47.32 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach $107.5 billion by 2028, a growth rate near 37 percent a year. Firms that consolidated their technology stacks around AI-capable platforms reported technology cost reductions of 50 to 77 percent in documented cases.
