Marketo co-founder Jon Miller and former Marketo executive Nick Bonfiglio have launched Phave, a marketing automation platform built around artificial intelligence reasoning rather than the rule-based workflows found in legacy systems. The company positions Phave as a successor to established platforms such as Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot and Eloqua, arguing that predetermined rules struggle to keep pace with the range of decisions modern marketing teams face.
The platform is designed to evaluate each contact, account and buying group individually, then assemble a sequenced set of communications, described internally as a Playlist, timed to that recipient's likely readiness to engage. Marketers can set governance guidelines that constrain what the system is allowed to do, while the AI determines which combination of actions is most likely to advance a given goal.
Miller said the shift reflects a broader limitation of rule-based marketing software. "Rules are good at what is allowed, but bad at deciding what is best," he said.
Phave reached general availability in August 2026 and is priced starting at $36,000 annually, with cost tied to the number of monthly active recipients rather than the size of a company's contact database. The company has drawn backing from venture firms including FirstMark, Ridge Ventures and Costanoa Ventures.
Bruce Eidsvik, chief growth officer at Servion Global Solutions, said his team has used the platform to increase marketing execution volume, describing output as more than doubling after adoption.
The launch adds to a wave of AI-native software aimed at replacing rule-based marketing automation with systems that make more autonomous decisions about timing and sequencing.
