Meta announced the Meta Enterprise Platform on Monday, September 28, a new business unit aimed at larger organizations. On Tuesday the company followed with Muse for Small Business, a version of its Muse AI assistant built for small company owners. The two launches extend Muse from a consumer assistant into business software.

Chirantan Desai, known as CJ and previously chief executive of MongoDB, was named Meta's Chief Enterprise Platform Officer. He reports to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. MongoDB shares fell more than 18 percent after the news of his departure.

Muse for Small Business works as an operational layer for owners who run day-to-day work through several apps. Meta says owners can use it to analyze sales, manage cash flow and inventory, draft communications and create content. The product connects to Asana, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Intuit QuickBooks, Lovable, Notion, Shopify, Slack, Stripe and Zoom.

Pricing starts with a free tier. Optional subscriptions cost $20 a month and $100 a month, with the tier tied to how much the assistant is used. Vishal Shah, Meta's vice president of AI products, leads the Muse effort. Meta reported that about one-third of its early testers had already connected Muse to their business accounts.

Meta already sells advertising to a large base of business customers, and the enterprise unit adds software subscriptions as a second product line for the same audience. The Enterprise Platform targets larger companies, while Muse for Small Business targets owners at the opposite end of the size range.
