AAR Corp is expanding its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Miami International Airport, adding more than 100,000 square feet to the existing operation and increasing its overall capacity by about one-third. Miami-Dade County officials and AAR executives are scheduled to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 17 to mark the milestone.
The project is expected to create 200 new full-time positions at the company's airframe MRO site in Miami, adding to a workforce that already supports maintenance activity for airlines and aircraft lessors across the Americas. AAR chairman, president and chief executive John M. Holmes plans to attend alongside Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami International Airport director Ralph Cutie, and other local and federal officials.
The expansion adds space for airframe maintenance work as demand for aircraft upkeep continues to climb, driven by aging fleets, growing commercial aviation traffic and pressure on operators to keep aircraft available for service. Miami International Airport, one of the busiest US gateways to Latin America and the Caribbean, is separately carrying out roughly 14 billion dollars in capital improvements and maintenance upgrades across the airport.
AAR operates aviation aftermarket services including maintenance, repair, overhaul and parts supply in more than 20 countries. The company's Miami facility focuses on airframe maintenance for large commercial jets, and the additional capacity is intended to reduce aircraft downtime for airline and leasing customers who rely on the region as a hub for scheduled heavy maintenance work. The expanded site is located at 5300 NW 36th Street in Miami.
