Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is adding 14,000 square feet to its manufacturing site in West Des Moines, Iowa. The company described the project as a multi-million-dollar investment intended to raise capacity in response to growing customer demand.
The West Des Moines facility specializes in advanced fuel distribution systems for commercial and military platforms. It produces original equipment components and spare parts, and it also provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services. The site ships more than 25,000 engine nozzles each month and operates as an FAA-certified Part 145 repair station focused on engine nozzle systems and powerplant accessories.
About 300 full-time employees work at the site today. Collins expects the expansion to create additional positions by the end of 2026, with further recruitment planned for 2027 to support long-term program growth. James Bagg, vice president and general manager of Engine Control Systems at Collins Aerospace, said the work is intended to improve delivery performance and manufacturing capabilities while adding jobs.
The Iowa project follows a separate Collins Aerospace commitment made in June 2026, when the company put US$63 million toward expanding its MRO footprint at Subang Aerotech Park in Malaysia. That project more than triples the size of the company's Selangor operation and extends its component repair support for a range of aircraft.
The two announcements show Collins adding repair and overhaul capacity at both a domestic engine component plant and an overseas component hub within four months of 2026. The West Des Moines site holds FAA Part 145 certification, which covers repair work on engine nozzle systems and powerplant accessories for commercial and military customers.
