Boeing's newly released Commercial Services Market Outlook forecasts a $4.9 trillion global market for aviation support and services over the next 20 years, covering the period from 2026 through 2045. The report, produced by Boeing Global Services, groups aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul work together with parts supply chains, training and digital fleet solutions as the core segments driving that spending.
The outlook pairs with Boeing's companion Pilot and Technician Outlook, which projects the industry will need roughly 728,000 new aviation maintenance technicians worldwide through 2045, part of a broader demand for 2.4 million new pilots, technicians and cabin crew members combined. Boeing estimates two thirds of that demand will come from replacing retiring workers, while the remaining third supports fleet growth.
North America's share of that global picture includes demand for about 125,000 new maintenance technicians and a projected $995 billion in services and support spending through 2045, according to the regional breakdown included in the report. Boeing noted that mature markets including North America will see demand driven more by fleet renewal, digital adoption and lifecycle optimization than by the rapid fleet expansion expected in emerging regions.
Boeing also pointed to aircraft digitalization as a growing factor in the services market, projecting that more than 90% of the global fleet will be electronically enabled by 2045, a shift the company says supports a move toward predictive maintenance over traditional scheduled inspections.
