Boeing values the commercial aviation support and services market at $4.9 trillion across the 20 years from 2026 through 2045, according to the manufacturer's annual outlook released July 17. The category covers aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification work, parts and supply chain, training and professional services, and digital tools for fleet maintenance and operations.

The same outlook projects demand for more than 2.4 million new aviation personnel over the period, a figure that spans pilots, cabin crew, and maintenance technicians. Workforce demand tracks a fleet that Boeing expects to expand by nearly 80% to more than 50,000 aircraft by 2045.

On the delivery side, Boeing forecasts that operators will need close to 44,000 new airplanes over the same two decades. Roughly half of those deliveries are expected to replace previous generation aircraft with more fuel efficient models rather than add net capacity. Passenger traffic is projected to double across the forecast window.

Boeing identified two trends it expects to shape services spending. The first is efficiency work centered on aircraft lifecycle management, where operators seek to extend asset life and reduce unscheduled removals. The second is increasing aircraft digitalization and the data driven services that follow from it, including predictive maintenance programs built on sensor output from newer airframes and engines. The services forecast is published alongside the Commercial Market Outlook, which Boeing has issued annually for more than six decades.
