Boeing's latest Services Market Outlook projects that the global market for commercial aviation support and services will be worth $4.7 trillion over the 20-year period from 2025 through 2044. The forecast segments the opportunity into maintenance, repair, overhaul and modifications, parts and supply chain, training and professional services, and digital solutions and analytics.
Within the maintenance segment, engine work dominates spending. Engine overhauls account for roughly 47 percent of total MRO market share, the largest single category. The near-term market is sizable as well, with the commercial MRO market projected at approximately $97 billion in 2026, up from about $91 billion in 2025.
The forecast also highlights a workforce challenge. Boeing estimates the industry will need about 710,000 new maintenance technicians globally over the next two decades to keep pace with air transport growth. Demand is supported by rising air travel, with global passenger traffic forecast to climb 4.9 percent in 2026 and industry revenues projected to top $1 trillion for a second consecutive year. The figures point to sustained, long-run demand for skilled maintenance labor and the facilities that perform heavy engine and airframe work.
