Engine components accounted for 39% of the hardest-to-find aircraft parts in North America in August 2026, according to Locatory.com data reported by Aviation Pros on October 7, 2026. Engine parts held a 37% share of the global data set.

The North American breakdown places standard hardware and seals at 26%, electrical, power, APU and avionics parts at 17%, airframe and landing gear parts at 9%, and cabin, safety and interior items at 9%. Globally, electrical and related parts account for 21%, airframe and landing gear for 19%, standard hardware and seals for 16%, and cabin and safety items for 7%.

Within engine components, constraints centered on the GE90 and the Boeing 777 fleet. The hardest items included Full Authority Digital Engine Control units, hydromechanical unit control assemblies, an IDG check valve assembly, fuel-oil cooler and heat exchanger components, and a temperature and pressure sensor. Locatory.com reports that the FADEC family, hydromechanical unit, and sensor have appeared on its hardest-to-find data for four consecutive months, May through August.

Locatory.com notes that 44 of the same 50 part numbers appeared on both the global and North American lists. The report points to continued delays in the Boeing 777X program as a factor keeping 777-300ER and 777F fleets in long-haul service, which sustains the need to support the installed GE90 base, while advising that this context should not be treated as a direct cause of the shortage.

Small consumables also appear, including a ring backup, a bearing assembly, screws, and a PTFE seal. AerFin identified high-pressure turbine blade availability as the principal bottleneck extending CFM56 overhaul cycles at the end of August.
