The global aviation MRO market exceeded $136 billion in 2025, an 8% increase over 2024, and is projected to reach nearly $193 billion by the end of the decade, according to the Oliver Wyman Global Fleet and MRO Market Forecast 2026-2036. The growth reflects what analysts are calling an MRO super cycle, driven by an aging global fleet and persistent aircraft manufacturing backlogs that show no sign of clearing quickly.
At the start of 2026, approximately 17,000 unfilled aircraft orders were on the books, a production backlog expected to take more than 12 years to clear at current manufacturing rates. The gap between new aircraft supply and robust passenger demand is forcing airlines to keep older planes flying longer, directly increasing maintenance workloads and parts demand across the industry.
Global passenger revenues surpassed $1 trillion for the first time in 2025, with 5.2 billion people traveling by air and revenue passenger kilometers running 9% above the pre-pandemic 2019 peak. The fleet is projected to grow 37% to approximately 41,000 aircraft by 2036. MROs with strong aviation maintenance video production capabilities for technician training and compliance documentation are well positioned to scale operations to meet this expanding demand.
