Metro Atlanta remains one of the largest aircraft maintenance hubs in North America, led by Delta TechOps, the maintenance, repair, and overhaul division of Delta Air Lines based at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Fulton and Clayton counties. The operation employs more than 9,600 workers and runs 51 maintenance stations worldwide.

Delta TechOps maintains the more than 900 aircraft in the Delta fleet and also provides maintenance services to over 150 third-party operators around the world. That combination makes it the second largest MRO provider in North America and the seventh largest worldwide, with much of its core engineering and overhaul work concentrated in the metro Atlanta footprint.

The maintenance sector is a significant part of Georgia's broader aerospace economy. Metro Atlanta's aerospace cluster spans manufacturing, repair, and overhaul, and helps position Georgia among the top five aerospace exporting states, with a statewide economic impact estimated at 57.5 billion dollars. The concentration of repair capability at Hartsfield-Jackson draws suppliers, training programs, and component shops into the surrounding counties.

Industry analysts expect the maintenance market to keep expanding through the decade as carriers fly older aircraft longer and defer some new deliveries. For the Atlanta region, that trend supports continued demand for technicians, hangar capacity, and engineering services. Local workforce programs across Fulton, Clayton, and neighboring counties are working to supply the certified mechanics that operations like Delta TechOps need to sustain output.
