Delta TechOps, the maintenance arm of Delta Air Lines, has secured its long-term presence in Atlanta through a 30-year lease extension with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for its Technical Operations Center. The agreement keeps one of North America's largest aircraft maintenance operations rooted in Fulton County and the surrounding metro Atlanta area.
The Technical Operations Center spans more than 2.7 million square feet on a 200-acre campus and employs roughly 7,000 people. Delta TechOps stands as the largest airline MRO in North America and ranks among the largest maintenance providers worldwide. The facility supports Delta's fleet of more than 800 aircraft and delivers airframe, component, engine, and logistics services for over 150 operators around the globe.
The operation continues to expand its technical capabilities. Delta TechOps recently added the Trent XWB and Trent 7000 commercial jet engine types to its MRO portfolio, broadening the range of widebody engines it can service in Atlanta. The additions position the center to capture more engine overhaul work as carriers operating those powerplants seek maintenance capacity.
Georgia has built a substantial aviation maintenance cluster anchored by the Atlanta operation, with state economic development officials citing MRO as a strength of the regional economy. The lease extension secures thousands of skilled technical jobs in the metro counties for the coming decades and reinforces Atlanta's standing as a major hub for commercial aircraft maintenance in the United States.
