Delta TechOps has opened a new 155,000 square foot engine repair shop at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, expanding one of the largest maintenance operations in the United States. The facility houses 60 engine bays and is dedicated to servicing Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan engines that power Delta's Airbus A321neo and A220 aircraft, along with engines for outside customers.
The investment supports Delta's stated plan to grow its third-party maintenance business toward roughly 5 billion dollars in annual revenue. The carrier has built certified capacity for engines from CFM International, GE Aviation, Pratt and Whitney, and Rolls-Royce, and recently inducted its first CFM LEAP engine from an external airline customer under contract. Delta TechOps generated about 822 million dollars in revenue in 2025, up from 658 million dollars the prior year, and projects third-party MRO revenue near 1.0 to 1.2 billion dollars in 2026.
The expansion concentrates skilled aviation jobs in Fulton County and strengthens metro Atlanta's position as a maintenance hub anchored by the world's busiest passenger airport. The new shop also performs work tied to some US military aircraft programs. Industry observers note that adding engine bay capacity directly addresses one of the tightest bottlenecks in the maintenance market, where engine shop visits are projected to climb for years.
