Delta TechOps, the maintenance arm of Delta Air Lines based at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Fulton County, has opened a new 155,000 square foot facility with 60 engine bays to expand its repair capacity. The shop is dedicated to servicing Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan engines, including the PW1100G and PW1500G that power Delta's Airbus A321neo and A220 aircraft, along with engines for outside customers.
Delta TechOps is the largest airline maintenance provider in North America and one of the largest worldwide. The Atlanta operation spans roughly 2.7 million square feet, about 62 acres, and the division employs more than 9,600 people across 51 maintenance stations. It supports the more than 900 aircraft in the Delta fleet and provides services to over 150 third party operators around the world.
The expansion targets a fast growing segment of the market. Third party maintenance revenue reached about 822 million dollars in 2025, and the company has guided to roughly 1.0 to 1.2 billion dollars in 2026. Geared turbofan engines have been a focus of industry wide reliability and shop visit pressure, making added overhaul capacity valuable to both Delta and external airlines.
The investment reinforces metro Atlanta's standing as an aviation maintenance hub anchored by the world's busiest passenger airport. Georgia has built a cluster of aerospace manufacturing and maintenance activity, and added engine capacity at Hartsfield-Jackson supports both local employment and regional supply chains.
