Delta TechOps, the maintenance division of Delta Air Lines, has opened a new engine repair shop at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Fulton County, part of a plan to expand its third-party maintenance work into a multibillion-dollar business. The new facility spans about 155,000 square feet and houses 60 engine bays, adding capacity to an Atlanta campus that already covers roughly 2.7 million square feet.

Delta TechOps employs more than 9,600 people and operates 51 maintenance stations worldwide, serving the carrier's fleet of more than 900 aircraft. Beyond Delta's own planes, the division supports over 150 third-party operators, a scale that ranks it as the second largest MRO provider in North America and the seventh largest globally.

The growth target is substantial. Third-party MRO revenue reached about 822 million dollars in 2025, and guidance for 2026 points to roughly 1.0 to 1.2 billion dollars. Company leadership has outlined an ambition to scale the unit into a 5 billion dollar third-party maintenance operation over time, supported by additional engine shops and outside contracts.

For metro Atlanta, the expansion carries economic weight. Engine overhaul is among the most labor-intensive and highly skilled segments of aircraft maintenance, and added bays translate into demand for licensed technicians and support roles. The investment reinforces Hartsfield-Jackson's position as a maintenance hub and deepens Georgia's aviation and aerospace base.
