Delta Air Lines is moving to expand its Atlanta-based maintenance arm, Delta TechOps, into a $5 billion third-party MRO business, a push that could add skilled aviation jobs across Fulton County and the metro Atlanta region. Delta TechOps is headquartered at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and already ranks as the second largest MRO provider in North America and seventh largest worldwide.
The division employs more than 9,600 people across 51 maintenance stations and maintains the more than 900 aircraft in Delta's fleet while serving over 150 third-party operators. Third-party maintenance generated roughly $822 million in revenue in 2025, up from $658 million the prior year, according to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
Capacity is growing on the ground in Atlanta. Delta TechOps opened a new 155,000 square foot engine repair shop at Hartsfield-Jackson featuring 60 engine bays. The facility is dedicated to servicing Pratt & Whitney GTF engines that power Delta's Airbus A321neo and A220 aircraft, along with engines for outside MRO customers.
The expansion positions Atlanta as a deepening hub for engine overhaul work as carriers nationwide contend with tight maintenance capacity and long engine shop turn times.
