Aviation Maintenance Magazine reported that the initiative addresses a projected shortfall of more than 40,000 aviation maintenance technicians over the next decade. The investment is part of a broader FAA workforce strategy that includes outreach to transitioning military personnel and underrepresented communities.
MRO providers and regional carriers welcomed the announcement, noting that workforce constraints have lengthened turnaround times and increased costs for line maintenance and heavy checks.
