Metro Atlanta carries a substantial share of that activity through advanced manufacturing, passenger operations, and maintenance, repair and overhaul work.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport anchors the regional cluster. The field connects Atlanta to more than 150 domestic destinations and over 70 international destinations, and it handles more than 108 million passengers a year. Airport leadership is executing a multi-billion-dollar modernization program covering terminal, concourse, and airfield infrastructure.
That traffic volume sustains a dense base of line maintenance and heavy check capacity in the surrounding counties. Carriers operating hub schedules through Atlanta require overnight turn capability, component repair access, and technician staffing concentrated near the field, which pulls repair station activity into Fulton, Clayton, and adjacent county industrial corridors.
Route development continues to add operations. Delta Air Lines begins nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh in October 2026, adding widebody cycles to the Atlanta base. The airport is also expanding facial recognition boarding beyond Delta to all flights departing the United States.
Georgia workforce development programs tied to the aerospace cluster focus on certificated technician pipelines, an area where regional MRO employers report persistent hiring difficulty.
