Martin Aviation, LLC held a ribbon-cutting on Thursday, October 22, 2026, to open a new aircraft maintenance facility at Cullman Regional Airport, also known as Folsom Field, in Vinemont, Alabama. The event was hosted with the Cullman Regional Airport Authority and the Cullman Economic Development Agency.
The new building covers about 13,000 square feet and is set up for maintenance and inspection of jet and turboprop aircraft. Martin Aviation, owned by Chris Martin and his wife Cheris, started operations at Scottsboro Municipal Airport in 2018. The company says it serves customers in 19 states, holds recognition as a Textron Large MRO, and focuses on Beechcraft King Air aircraft.
Services at the company include full maintenance and inspections, jet and turbine engine work, avionics, nondestructive testing, pre-purchase evaluations, paint and interior work, and maintenance tracking. Groundbreaking on the Cullman project took place in August 2024.
Speakers at the opening included Cullman Economic Development Agency executive director Jamie Troutman, airport director Ben Harrison, Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs, who chairs the city-county airport board, and Chris Martin. Harrison described the investment as an addition to the airport and the aviation community in North Alabama. Martin said the airport plays a significant role in supporting the growing aviation industry in central Alabama.
Martin Aviation plans to keep its Scottsboro location open and to work with the aviation program at Wallace State Community College.
