Pratt & Whitney and Delta TechOps signed an agreement to expand geared turbofan engine overhaul capacity at Delta's Atlanta maintenance campus, which sits at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Fulton County. The deal raises annual capacity at the facility by more than 30 percent, allowing the site to overhaul up to 450 engines per year over the next decade.

The expansion addresses a backlog of GTF engines requiring shop visits across the global fleet. Geared turbofans power a large share of newer narrowbody aircraft, and demand for overhaul slots has outpaced available capacity industrywide. By adding throughput in Atlanta, the partners aim to shorten turnaround times for operators and ease pressure on the engine maintenance network.

The agreement reinforces metro Atlanta's standing as a maintenance hub. Delta TechOps already ranks as the largest airline-owned MRO in North America, and Georgia hosts a cluster of engine, component, and avionics operations supported by the region's skilled workforce. The capacity increase represents a long-term commitment of investment and staffing at the Fulton County site, with work phased in over the contract period as tooling and certified shop space come online.
