Steiner Aviation International has expanded its airframe maintenance and inspection capabilities at Akron-Canton Regional Airport in Ohio, adding coverage for a broader range of business and regional aircraft types.
The expansion covers the Embraer ERJ 135 and 145, the Cessna Citation 500, 550, 560, 560+ and 560XL, all Beechcraft King Air models and Dassault Falcon aircraft. The additions widen the scope of work the Ohio-based maintenance and avionics provider can perform without sending operators to larger regional facilities.
To support the wider range of aircraft and services, Steiner Aviation added five technicians, three certified in airframe and powerplant work and two in avionics. The hires increase capacity across both airframe maintenance and avionics as the company works through a growing customer base.
The move builds on more than 25 years of aircraft maintenance and avionics experience at the Akron-Canton facility. Company leadership has said the expansion forms part of a strategy to give operators a responsive, customer-focused alternative to larger MRO shops, particularly for business and regional aircraft that often compete for slot time at bigger service centers.
Business aviation operators across the country have faced longer wait times for scheduled inspections and unscheduled repairs as fleets have aged and technician rosters have thinned. Facilities that can add certified staff and widen their type ratings, as Steiner Aviation has done, help relieve some of that pressure for operators flying King Air, Citation and Falcon aircraft, which make up a large share of the US business jet fleet.
