Textron Aviation, the Wichita, Kansas based aircraft manufacturer, has received Part 145 approval from Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority for its Australian maintenance organization. The certification covers the company's three service centers in Melbourne, Perth and on the Gold Coast, creating one of the largest OEM owned maintenance networks operating in the country.
The Part 145 approval confirms that Textron Aviation's Australian maintenance staff, systems and oversight processes meet the requirements needed to perform and certify aircraft maintenance under Australian aviation standards. More than 1,400 Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker aircraft currently operate in Australia, and the certification strengthens Textron Aviation's ability to support that fleet through direct factory backing rather than third party contractors.
Customers working with the three company owned centers gain access to maintenance, aircraft modifications, overhaul services and on ground assistance closer to their operating bases. Textron Aviation said the localized structure is designed to shorten maintenance turnaround times and reduce aircraft downtime for operators across the region.
The approval extends a global support network that Textron Aviation, a subsidiary of Textron Inc., has built around its Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker product lines. The Wichita based manufacturer continues to expand factory direct service options as demand for maintenance capacity grows across commercial and business aviation markets worldwide, including among US fleet operators who fly the same aircraft platforms.
