WGI, an aerospace company based in western Massachusetts, plans to invest about US$19 million in a new maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at its existing Southwick campus. The company announced the project on October 1, 2026.
The planned building covers 68,000 square feet and will house WGI MRO. The company said the facility will bring specialized equipment, higher production capacity and additional MRO capabilities for servicing precision aerospace components.
WGI expects the project to create 30 new jobs. The state approved US$450,000 in tax credits for the project under the Massachusetts Economic Development Incentive Program, according to the company.
The investment comes as the 85-year-old, family-owned company expands its MRO business to serve a growing customer base. WGI said the new facility will also support aerospace manufacturing and repair activity across western Massachusetts, where the Southwick campus already operates.
Precision component repair sits within the broader aftermarket segment that Oliver Wyman's 2026 MRO survey cited when nearly 60 percent of respondents ranked capacity and footprint expansion as an investment priority over the next two to three years. WGI's project places the added repair floor space on its existing Southwick campus. Southwick is a town in Hampden County, Massachusetts. The company described itself as 85 years old and family-owned, and the announcement tied the facility to precision component repair, one of the capabilities WGI MRO is expected to expand.
