Global spending on data centers is on pace to approach 540 billion dollars in 2026, and the market shows no sign of slowing. Worldwide revenue in the data center market is forecast to reach 538.91 billion dollars this year, according to Statista, as hyperscale cloud providers, AI infrastructure buildouts and enterprise digital transformation projects continue to drive investment.

IT infrastructure, the largest segment of that market, accounts for the biggest share on its own, with a projected volume of 284.01 billion dollars in 2026. That segment covers the servers, storage and networking equipment operators install inside new and expanding facilities. Statista projects the overall data center market will grow at a compound annual rate of 8.48 percent between 2026 and 2031, a pace that would push global revenue to 809.59 billion dollars by 2031.

The United States remains the largest single market by a wide margin. Statista projects the country will generate 168.51 billion dollars in data center market revenue in 2026, more than any other nation, reflecting the concentration of hyperscale campuses, colocation facilities and AI compute clusters built across US metro markets. Germany, India, Japan and China round out the list of key regions tracked in the forecast, though none approaches the scale of US spending.
