AI cloud provider CoreWeave has agreed to lease space inside EdgeConneX's growing Cedar Creek data center campus in Bastrop County, Texas, according to county tax records reviewed by Data Center Dynamics. The agreement covers Building 1 at the site, known as AUS02, a two story facility spanning 578,000 square feet with an estimated construction cost of $440 million.
County filings show CoreWeave received a 75 percent tax abatement on facility improvements dating back to September 2025, covering electrical infrastructure, cooling equipment, backup generators, servers, and networking hardware. Construction on the first buildings at Cedar Creek began in late 2024, and the AUS02 building was expected to reach completion by mid-June 2026.
The Cedar Creek campus, developed by colocation provider EdgeConneX, is planned to include four data center buildings once fully built out. The company filed plans in June 2026 for two additional buildings spanning 730,000 square feet combined. Occupants for those buildings have not yet been announced. Cedar Creek sits southeast of Austin, an area where EdgeConneX says its combined sites will offer 240 megawatts of capacity.
CoreWeave already holds significant leased capacity elsewhere in Texas, including agreements with Galaxy's Helios campus and Core Scientific's Denton facility. The company reports operating 49 data centers across North America and Europe with more than one gigawatt of total capacity. Its customer roster includes OpenAI, Microsoft, IBM, Nvidia, and Meta.
The expansion reflects continued demand from AI cloud providers for pre-built colocation capacity in fast growing Texas markets, where land availability and tax incentives have drawn a wave of new campus development around Austin.
