A wave of data center development is reshaping land use across metro Atlanta, with major projects advancing in Fulton, Douglas, and Fayette counties through 2026. The buildout reflects sustained demand for computing capacity in one of the Southeast's leading data center markets.
In Fulton County, T5 Data Centers finalized land for a 91-acre campus in South Fulton featuring three buildings totaling roughly 1.32 million square feet, with utility service expected to begin in 2026. Nearby, Burr Computer Environments has filed plans for a 2.1-million-square-foot campus in Union City set to start in 2026, while Vantage Data Centers continues work on its 754,220-square-foot Westlake facility in South Fulton. Microsoft's Palmetto Data Center, also in Fulton County, can span up to 116 acres.
Douglas County is drawing large-scale investment as well. Stream Data Centers plans a 1.3-million-square-foot facility along Jason Industrial Parkway, featuring nine buildings and two substations. In Fayette County, QTS is developing a campus known as Project Excalibur on a 615-acre site in Fayetteville, a project expected to cost more than $1 billion and include up to 16 buildings.
The concentration of projects underscores why metro Atlanta ranks among the fastest-growing data center regions in the country. The campuses bring construction activity, long-term tax base, and infrastructure demand to the counties, while also raising questions about land use and power supply that local officials and utilities continue to weigh as the developments move toward completion.
