The US data center market is approaching 170 billion dollars in 2026, with Statista estimating the sector at about 168.5 billion dollars for the year. Other research firms place the figure across a wide band, from roughly 48 billion dollars at the low end to 122 billion dollars, reflecting differing definitions of what the market includes.

Investment flows tell the clearest growth story. The US market drew 298.97 billion dollars in investment in 2025 and is projected to attract a cumulative 839 billion dollars from 2026 through 2031, excluding IT infrastructure. Combined capital spending by the five largest hyperscale providers is projected to exceed 600 billion dollars in 2026, a 36 percent increase year over year, with roughly 450 billion dollars aimed directly at AI infrastructure.

Physical capacity is expanding just as fast. The market is expected to grow from 57.08 thousand megawatts in 2025 to 109.56 thousand megawatts by 2030, a compound annual growth rate of about 14 percent. The near-doubling of capacity underscores how quickly operators are converting capital into operational data center space.

Colocation demand adds another layer. The US colocation market is forecast to reach 85.18 billion dollars by 2031, backed by 461.62 billion dollars in cumulative investment. Together the figures depict a sector absorbing capital at an extraordinary pace as cloud and AI demand push operators to build ahead of contracted need.
