Private-sector data center construction in the United States is running at an annualized $84.95 billion as of August 2026, according to Statista's tracking of US construction spending. The figure is more than $43 billion above the full-year 2025 total for data center construction.

The measure shows the annualized value of data center construction put in place by the private sector, in a monthly series that runs from January 2014 to August 2026. Statista last updated the page on October 7, 2026. An annualized figure takes a single month's pace of spending and scales it to a full year, so it describes the current run rate rather than money already spent.

Other Statista pages describe how quickly the trend has built. One of them reports that annual growth in spending on US data center construction starts has exceeded 80% every year since 2022, and that spending on starts rose 188.5% in 2025. Statista attributes the 2025 surge to demand for data centers that support artificial intelligence. A separate Statista page says US data center construction spending grew more than threefold between 2019 and 2024, and it cites a forecast of $42.2 billion for 2025.

Those pages measure different things, including construction starts and construction put in place, so their figures should not be added together. Read side by side, they show spending that has stepped up repeatedly over several years and reached a markedly higher monthly pace in 2026 than the 2025 annual total.
