Data center construction continued to spread across metro Atlanta in 2026, with major campuses advancing in Douglas County, Fulton County, and surrounding areas. Google was revealed as the developer behind an 8 billion dollar project in Georgia known as Project Pegasus, one of the largest single technology investments in the state and a marker of how aggressively hyperscale operators are building in the region.
Several projects reached operational milestones. Microsoft's Douglasville campus in Douglas County, spanning nearly 1 million square feet across multiple buildings, was slated for completion in 2026 to support the company's cloud infrastructure. In South Fulton County, T5 Data Centers advanced its Atlanta IV campus, a 91-acre site with three buildings totaling roughly 1.32 million square feet, with utility service expected to come online in 2026.
The pipeline extends well beyond those facilities. Amazon Web Services planned roughly 11 billion dollars in data centers across Butts County, southeast of Atlanta, and Douglas County to the west, a buildout projected to create 550 jobs. Additional campuses are moving through permitting in Coweta and other counties as developers secure land and power commitments.
The concentration of projects reflects Georgia's appeal to operators: available land, transmission access, and an established fiber network anchored in Atlanta. The growth also brings local debate over tax incentives, water use, and electricity demand, issues that county governments across the metro area are weighing as the campuses come online.
