Northampton Capital Partners has formed a joint venture with Provident Data Centers to develop a 54 megawatt data center in the North Dallas Corridor of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

The facility is expected to come online in late 2027. The companies have not disclosed the exact site. Alongside the Dallas project, the two firms agreed to a framework for developing additional inference ready data center sites in markets across the United States.

Simpson Thacher and Bartlett LLP served as legal counsel to Northampton. Haynes and Boone LLP, a Texas firm, served as legal counsel to Provident Data Centers, and Citizens Capital Markets acted as financial advisor to Provident.

Northampton is an alternative asset management firm focused on middle market infrastructure across energy, digital and other critical infrastructure sectors, with approximately $1.1 billion in assets under management. The firm invested last year in Blueprint Data Centers, another Texas based operator.

Provident Data Centers is the data center arm of Provident, a Dallas real estate developer founded in 1991. The company lists projects in Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, Garland, Plano and Austin, Texas, along with sites in Indiana, Alabama, Missouri and Pennsylvania, and legacy projects in Dallas, Richardson and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Dallas Fort Worth market has drawn steady capital as developers pursue sites with available power and proximity to existing fiber routes. Inference workloads, which run trained models rather than training them, carry different latency and siting requirements than large training clusters, and developers have begun marketing capacity specifically for that use.
