Skanska has signed an $84 million contract with an existing client to build a data center in Georgia, the Stockholm-based construction group announced on September 22, 2026. The company valued the agreement at about SEK 780 million and said it will be included in its US order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.
The project calls for a building of approximately 244,730 square feet, or about 22,700 square meters, containing five colocation data halls and administrative space. The facility is designed for 48 MW of capacity. Spread across that design load, the construction contract works out to roughly $1.75 million per megawatt.
Skanska's scope covers civil, structural, utilities, electrical, mechanical and security work, along with interior amenities and fit-out. The contract also includes commissioning of major equipment through completion of the building.
Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2026, with completion expected in the third quarter of 2028. That gives the project a build period of roughly 21 to 23 months from start to handover.
The announcement did not name the client or identify the city or county where the data center will rise. Skanska described the customer only as an existing client. The release lists Skanska USA Building, the company's US building construction unit, as the communications contact for the project.
Colocation facilities lease data hall space, power and cooling to multiple tenants who install their own computing equipment. A five-hall layout allows an operator to bring capacity online and lease it in phases as tenants sign on.
