Meta has signed a set of nuclear power agreements with Oklo, Vistra, and TerraPower to supply up to 6.6 gigawatts of electricity by 2035, aimed at powering its AI computing operations, according to Utility Dive. The deals center on Meta's Prometheus supercluster, a large data center system under construction in New Albany, Ohio.
The agreement with TerraPower provides funding to support development of two new Natrium units capable of generating up to 690 megawatts of firm power, with delivery targeted as early as 2032. The deal also gives Meta rights to energy from up to six additional Natrium units capable of producing 2.1 gigawatts, aimed for delivery by 2035. TerraPower's Natrium is a sodium-cooled advanced reactor design.
Meta will also purchase more than 2.1 gigawatts of energy from two operating Vistra nuclear plants in Ohio, along with output from expansions at those plants and a third Vistra facility in Pennsylvania. A separate arrangement with Oklo will help develop a 1.2-gigawatt power campus in Pike County, Ohio, to serve Meta's regional data centers.
The agreements add to a wave of nuclear procurement by large technology companies seeking reliable, round-the-clock power for AI workloads. In June, Meta signed a 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy to buy nuclear power from the Clinton Clean Energy Center in Illinois starting in 2027. The deals illustrate how data center demand is reshaping long-term power planning and channeling private capital toward both existing reactors and new advanced designs.
