Centrus Energy signed a contract on July 1, 2026 finalizing the terms of a competitively awarded $900 million task order from the Department of Energy. The agreement sets a firm fixed price paid through performance based milestone payments, and it commits the company to deploy a defined amount of enrichment capacity and deliver one metric ton of uranium enriched as HALEU in UF6 form by March 2032.
The contract carries options at the Department's discretion for up to $170 million in additional HALEU purchases for departmental missions, which would bring total contract value to $1.07 billion.
First new capacity is expected online by 2029. In the interim Centrus intends to run its existing HALEU cascade at Piketon, Ohio on a commercial basis to serve near term customer requirements. The company is negotiating with the Department on the agreements needed for that transition, including a long term lease extension for the American Centrifuge Plant.
Employment tied to the expansion includes roughly 1,000 construction jobs and 300 new operating positions in Ohio, alongside 150 existing jobs retained at the Piketon site.
Centrus is the only domestic uranium enricher, and HALEU is the fuel form required by most advanced reactor and small modular reactor designs now moving through licensing. Company results reflected that position, with first quarter adjusted diluted earnings of $1.05 a share against a 27 cent consensus, and 2026 revenue guidance raised to a range of $450 million to $500 million.
