Standard Nuclear, the Oak Ridge, Tennessee producer of TRISO nuclear fuel, reported second quarter revenue of 4.7 million dollars in its first earnings call as a public company, up from 600,000 dollars a year earlier.
Product revenue accounted for 3.1 million dollars of the total, with 1.6 million dollars coming from service revenue tied to fuel development contracts and United States government projects. Net loss was 3.4 million dollars, or 12 cents per share, narrowing from 7.7 million dollars in the first quarter. Gross margin was near 67 percent.
The company shipped a 50 kilogram batch of high-assay low-enriched uranium TRISO fuel to Radiant Industries for the Kaleidos demonstration microreactor, delivered to the Department of Energy DOME facility at Idaho National Laboratory, then delivered the balance of a full commercial core load after the quarter closed. Chief Executive Kurt Terrani said on the call that the company shipped its first commercial fuel core load during the quarter.
Total contract backlog rose to 241.5 million dollars at June 30 from 91.3 million dollars at March 31, and reached 576.9 million dollars after an August fuel supply agreement with Antares Nuclear covering one metric ton of HALEU TRISO fuel plus options for up to seven more.
Construction is substantially complete at the SN-TN facility in Oak Ridge and the SN-ID facility in Idaho. Each starts at up to one metric ton of annual TRISO capacity and is designed to scale to 2.5 metric tons, with authorization to operate targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. The company acquired land and an existing Oak Ridge building for 5.5 million dollars in cash during July, bringing its Oak Ridge holdings to roughly 57 acres.
