Cobb County is set to receive transportation funding under a recently passed federal infrastructure package, including money for fiber connections intended to improve data connectivity between freight vehicles and roadside systems. The allocation places the county among Georgia jurisdictions positioned to upgrade freight movement infrastructure as regional truck volumes climb.
Separately, Cobb County drew a corporate commitment when Authority Brands selected the county for a new headquarters operation the company is calling a Franchisee Success Center. The $13 million investment is projected to add 390 jobs over several years, adding to the commercial activity that generates local freight and delivery demand across the northwest metro corridor.
The county developments arrived alongside a statewide freight milestone. On July 16, 2026, the Georgia Department of Transportation opened the Brampton Road Connector in Savannah, a $126 million four-lane highway linking the Port of Savannah directly to the Interstate 16 corridor that carries container freight into Atlanta. The connector ties Garden City Terminal Gate 3 to the interstate system and removes at-grade rail crossings and truck traffic from surrounding neighborhoods.
For carriers running lanes between the coast and metro Atlanta distribution centers, the connector shortens the first leg of inland moves and reduces exposure to rail crossing delays that have historically added unpredictable dwell time. Georgia officials have positioned the project as part of a broader effort to keep port growth from overwhelming surface transportation capacity in the counties north of Atlanta where warehouse absorption remains concentrated.
