FedEx Freight has widened the responsibilities of Chief Technology Officer Michael Rodgers, who now carries the title of chief commercial and technology officer at the Memphis, Tennessee, carrier. Trucking Dive reported the change on September 15, 2026.
The expanded role places sales, customer experience, and technology under a single executive. It follows the departure of Michael Lyons, who served as executive vice president and chief specialized services and commercial officer. FedEx Freight disclosed in a September 2 securities filing that an internal investigation determined Lyons committed a code of conduct violation. The company declined to comment further on his exit.
Rodgers joined the carrier after serving as executive vice president, chief technology officer, and chief information officer at Pilot Company. His background covers revenue growth, digital products, data, and enterprise transformation.
The reshuffle arrives as FedEx Freight settles into life as a standalone business. FedEx completed the spin-off on June 1, 2026, and the less-than-truckload carrier began regular trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker FDXF. The unit reported 8.9 billion dollars in revenue and 1.4 billion dollars in operating income in fiscal year 2025, making it the largest LTL carrier in North America.
Separating the technology stack from the former parent was one of the first tasks facing the new company. Executives said the carrier executed its technology separation plan during the fourth quarter, which ended May 31, and the business is now modernizing its systems on its own footing.
