The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration removed 14 electronic logging devices from its Registered Devices list on March 4, 2026, after their manufacturers failed to meet minimum federal requirements established under Title 49 CFR. Carriers still using any of the revoked devices had until May 4, 2026 to replace them with compliant units or face out-of-service citations.
The removed devices came from several ELD providers, including Club ELD, DENDRA Inc., Egreen ELD, and Gorilla Fleet Safety. In total, Gorilla Fleet Safety accounted for 11 of the 14 revocations across multiple branded products including Patriot ELD, ClearPath ELD, SimpleX 2 Go, and AllwaysTrack ELD, among others.
FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs stated that federal requirements are enforced without exception when devices fall short of established standards. Beginning May 4, safety officials encountering drivers using any revoked device were directed to cite the carrier for operating without an ELD and place the driver out of service.
Motor carriers whose devices were revoked were advised to immediately revert to paper logs or logging software while sourcing compliant replacements from the official Registered Devices list at eld.fmcsa.dot.gov. If a provider corrects all identified deficiencies, FMCSA stated it will reinstate the device on the registered list and notify the industry.
