Post Consumer Brands is investing $32 million to expand its Fairburn facility in Fulton County, turning the site into a Southeastern distribution hub for the company's breakfast cereal and pet food products. The 301,000 square foot warehouse expansion is scheduled for completion in 2027 and will add 35 full time jobs, according to a Georgia Trend roundup of economic development activity across the state.
The project sits inside one of the busiest freight corridors in the Southeast, with interstate access south of Atlanta and proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Warehouse projects of this size typically increase inbound truckload volume and outbound retail deliveries for carriers serving the south metro market.
In Gwinnett County, LED display manufacturer NanoLumens expanded in Norcross. The company's new 45,000 square foot location adds warehousing and logistics capacity along with a 2,500 square foot demonstration showroom.
Fulton County air cargo handling is also changing. The Fulton County Executive Airport is getting a $5.2 million customs facility as part of a larger expansion that includes additional hangars. Customs agents currently travel from Hartsfield-Jackson to meet inbound international flights, and the new building will allow those flights to clear at the general aviation field.
Mercedes-Benz opened its $34 million Atlanta Technology Center in West Midtown during the same period. The 60,000 square foot facility consolidates the company's US vehicle testing into a single site and will support 160 jobs.
Together the projects add warehouse space, distribution capacity and cargo processing capability across Fulton and Gwinnett counties.
