The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported recalls affecting a combined 384 trailers and trucks from Great Dane, PACCAR and Volvo Trucks North America.
Great Dane is recalling 69 of its 2027 Champion dry van trailers. The upper coupler may have an incorrect bottom plate installed, which can cause the kingpin to protrude and prevent the trailer from coupling properly. The company advises owners to stop using the affected trailers until the repair is complete. Great Dane will inspect the upper coupler assembly and replace it as necessary at no charge, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 4.
PACCAR is recalling 310 model year 2027 vehicles, including the Peterbilt 567, 579 and 589 and the Kenworth T680, T880, W900 and W990. The belt restraint webbing for the sleeper bunk was not secured properly during manufacturing. Dealers will inspect the bunk restraints and replace them as necessary at no charge. Owner letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 13, and the PACCAR recall number is 26PACH.
Volvo Trucks is recalling 5 of its 2025 and 2026 VNL vehicles because the truck cabs may have loose or missing structural bolts. Dealers will inspect for missing bolts and install or tighten them as necessary at no charge. Owner letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 14, and the Volvo recall number is RVXX2612. The affected vehicle identification numbers can be searched on the NHTSA website.
The three recalls total 69 trailers, 310 PACCAR vehicles and 5 Volvo trucks.
