Xoco Transport, a refrigerated freight carrier based in Hidalgo, Texas, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court, according to a petition submitted on September 16, 2026. The company, located near the U.S.-Mexico border, told Trucking Dive it remains operational while it pursues reorganization rather than liquidation.
Court filings show Xoco Transport reported roughly 2.2 million dollars in assets against 3.3 million dollars in liabilities. The carrier's revenue has declined sharply, falling from nearly 15.4 million dollars in 2024 to 11.3 million dollars in 2025, and the company posted a loss of more than 609,000 dollars during the first seven months of 2026 despite generating close to 6.8 million dollars in revenue through mid-September.
Founded in March 2018, Xoco Transport operates more than 40 tractors, primarily 2022 through 2024 models, along with roughly 70 trailers, and federal records list 65 drivers as of last October. The fleet hauls refrigerated and fresh produce, beverages, and general freight on long-haul routes connecting South Texas and McAllen to the Midwest, Northeast, Carolinas, and other regions.
Much of the carrier's outbound business is tied to produce shipments connected to a wholesale produce partner, supplemented by other freight and spot-market loads on return trips. As part of its reorganization plan, the company intends to continue using a factoring agreement with RTS Financial Service, established in 2019, to help manage cash collateral during the bankruptcy process. Majority owner Carlos Alberto Collazo-Gonzalez is listed among the unsecured creditors tied to a 1 million dollar capital contribution.
The filing adds Xoco Transport to a growing list of carriers facing financial strain in 2026 amid rising fuel costs, softer freight volumes, and tighter driver-eligibility rules, with several smaller operators shutting down or filing for bankruptcy protection this year.
